Trainee Commercial Manager

We are looking for an astute & ambitious Trainee Commercial Manager, working for our impressive UK-based distribution client

The Role

The purpose of the Trainee Commercial Manager will be to engage with customers and suppliers, ensuring sales opportunities are maximised, as well as achieving and hopefully exceeding all agreed budgetary targets. In addition, there will be a strong focus on negotiating recovery of costs overstock and out of date stock

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Liaising and negotiating with current customer base
  • Look to develop any new business opportunities
  • Look to improve cash flow through managing and reducing supplier debt
  • Look to provide customers with a tailored range of products & promotions
  • Negotiate competitive pricing with suppliers
  • Recover all residual, out of date and overstock costs
  • Making strong commercial decisions
  • Represent business at external meetings, events and seminars

Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years within a similar role
  • Commercial experience and good business acumen
  • Previous presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal communicator with all levels
  • Great negotiation & influencing skills
  • Sound decision-making
  • Prioritising busy workload
  • Comfortable and effective and working with numbers and figures
  • Adaptable within a changeable working environment
  • Forecasting and analytical skills
