The role

We are currently looking for a Traffic Operator in Ipswich to help support the team ensuring that we are delivering everything we have promised to our customers.

This role reports to the Operations Manager and will work closely with the clients to ensure the provision of an efficient and cost effective collection and delivery service. This will include planning collections to ensure customer delivery times are met whilst ensuring maximum productivity and legal compliance, monitoring daily planning and adjusting where necessary, liaising with sub-contractors to ensure drivers are aware of their individual timetable and dealing with any queries, making ferry bookings ensuring optimum use of available shipping routes, informing the Commercial team of any likely service failures, and updating systems.

The person

So what skills are we looking for:

  • Fantastic organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise your workload
  • An eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good geographical knowledge of the UK and Europe
  • Previous transport experience, including an understanding of Working Time and tachograph legislation, would be an advantage
  • Flexibility to work alternating shift patterns which includes weekend working, holiday and absence cover. There is a requirement to cover out of hours phone calls.
