We are now looking to recruit Trading Standards Enforcement Officers to work Birmingham on a temporary, ongoing basis. Your new role

As a Trading Standards Enforcement Officer you will be required to investigate complaints made from consumers and businesses in line with Consumer Protection Legislation. You will also need to participate in team operations such as age restricted sales enforcement and illicit tobacco enforcement. As a result of the investigation, you may need to report as a criminal offence that may lead to prosecution. You will also be required to advise businesses on best practice and enforcement in line with the Consumer Rights Act. There may also be the requirement to work outside of office hours with some surveillance that could require late evenings and early morning.

What you'll need to succeed

It is essential you have a background in an enforcement of Trading Standard legislation. This will also experience of investigating complaints in relation to goods and services that may be mis-described or not received. It is also essential that you have an understanding of the Consumer Rights Act, Consumer Protection Act, Police and Criminal Evidence Act and any other legislation that control the gathering of evidence and conduct of investigations. You must also be a driver with access to your own vehicle.
