Trade Finance Officer

To ensure an efficient, accurate and timely performance of work relating to FI, Export, Import and guarantee section of the Trade Finance department. Ensure that AML policies and procedures are adhered to, protecting the Bank at all times from financial loss and or risk.

Advising export documentary

  • Check documentary credit received and highlight error(s) if any

  • Prepare thematic review check lists and make sure the same has been signed by the authoriser

  • Seek clarification on amendments before advising to the beneficiary / first or second advising Bank. Input details required in T.I. system for documentary credit advised option

  • Ensure all incoming messages pertaining to export documentary credit(s) / amendment(s) / confirmation(s) and correspondences are mapped in T.I. and processed in a timely manner

  • Prepare swift message to the reimbursing Bank for confirmation of reimbursement authority

  • Ensure all approvals / rate and allocations are in place

  • In case of no authority, approach the issuing Bank and intimate the reason for rejection of reimbursement authority

  • After receiving confirmation of reimbursement authority, prepare confirmation ticket for approval to the Credit Department

  • After receipt of confirmation ticket duly signed by the Credit department, pass liability and ensure that entry in T.I / equation is reflecting correctly. Also ensure that proper confirmation letter been generated from T.I. system

  • Map incoming messages pertaining to export documentary credit(s) / amendment(s) / confirmation(s) and correspondence(s)

  • Process subject transactions in T.I. and make sure all relevant documents are being generated correctly before submitting for authorisation

Documents and Payments

  • First or second check the documents within 48 hours of receipt, complete check list charges schedule and discrepancies list

  • Ensure discrepancies are advised to the beneficiaries and the presenting bank within a reasonable time by phone, fax, letter, email and swift to ensure appropriate action taken on instruction of the beneficiaries / presenting Bank

  • Check and sign schedule for dispatch of documents

  • Prepare payments on export DC, Outward DC and claims under Guarantee promptly and schedule are correctly prepared and authorised on T. I

Discounting / Purchase and MRPA’s under export Letter of Credit:

  • Ensure discounting requested of the beneficiary /financial institution is in place

  • Ensure duly accepted MRPA of both parties (HBL & counter party) involved is in place

  • Country party signature(s) are duly authenticated through authenticated swift message

  • Ensure e-mail confirmation is in place from FI for confirmation of rate / FID approval to discount and Bank exposure limit is in place

  • Prepare discount ticket ensure approval from credit department is obtained

  • Ensure respective transaction documents are dispatched to the Bank

  • Prepare reminder to be sent to the applicant and issuing Bank 7 days prior to payment date

  • Review all documentation and formalities under MRPA’s are complete before proceeding further

Letter of Guarantee Issuance and Amendment

  • Scrutinise text and terms of the guarantee and counter guarantee and obtain approval by credit department

  • If in order enter in register and T. I, get the swift / telex prepared for transmission and vouchers for posting

  • Send copy of transmitted message or documentary credit, copy to concerned business manager and original to the recipient

Minimum experience:

  • Significant Trade and Documentary Credit Experience

  • Educated to GCSE level as a minimum or equivalent
