Toolroom Supervisor

A successful manufacturing company based in the Redditch area is seeking a Toolroom / Workshop supervisor to perform a hands-on leadership role. The role would ideally suit a time-served toolmaker with a good understanding of complex press tooling and will involve maintenance of all press tools, fixtures and gauges.

The role would ideally suit a time-served toolmaker with a good understanding of close tolerance tooling for precision pressed components ranging from 150 Ton presses down to small hand presses.

The role will involve all aspects of toolmaking including repair and refurbishment work to existing tools and the manufacture of new tooling.

Essential Attributes

- Apprentice qualified Toolmaker holding a recognised qualification
- Proven Toolmaking experience gained from pressed component / spring / wireforming industry
- Proficient in conventional machining practices including: milling, turning, surface grinding, drilling and EDM (wire erosion)
- Experience in making and repairing jigs and fixtures
- Self motivated and able to manage own workload
- Flexible, cooperative and conscientious approach

Desirable Attributes

- Experience of tooling for the production of precision parts
- Specific knowledge of blanking /piercing
- Experience of new product development
- Previous exposure to an aerospace / automotive environment
- Understanding of CAD / CAM processes
- Any ability with CNC machining processes
- Willingness to progress and develop

The successful candidate will be fully supported with specific training and development as appropriate.

The role is based on a standard day shift with the ability to accommodate occasional overtime to ensure production continuity as and when required. The salary for the role is based in the range circa £35,000 per annum based on experiences that can be brought to the role.
