Our client is a well-established engineering company based in St Leonards on Sea who specialise in making connectors, contacts, accessories, wires and subsea power cables for use in the harshest environments. A vacancy has arisen for an experienced Toolmaker to join their busy engineering team.

The ideal Toolmaker will have demonstrable experience within Tool room and be capable of grinding, turning, and milling and spark eroding on conventional and CNC machines. As a Toolmaker you will be providing a service in the manufacture of new tools and the repair/renovation of old tools. You will be working to very close tolerances and be following engineering drawings when carrying out toolmaking functions.

The Ideal Toolmaker will possess the following skills and qualities:

  • Demonstrable Toolmaking experience
  • Be capable of grinding, turning, milling and spark eroding on conventional and CNC machines
  • Able to read engineering drawings
  • Have excellent time management skills
  • Be able to problem solve and provide solutions to tool manufacturing problems

Your duties as a Toolmaker will include:

  • Manufacturing new tools, repairing and renovating old tools
  • Producing samples/prototypes to the required accuracy and quality
  • Planning jobs through various stages of manufacture, deciding the correct machinery and processes to be used in order to achieve the stated accuracy and quality
  • Operating machines and carrying out all other activities in a safe and responsible manner
  • Achieving tasks within the set time in order to meet departmental targets
  • Assisting in the training of other toolmakers, new employees and apprentices
  • Carrying out any other reasonable tasks as may be requested from time to time by the Tooling Manager or the Engineering Manager
  • Ensuring that all tooling related activities are carried out in accordance with the appropriate company procedures
  • Handling various tasks simultaneously and be able to adapt to changing priorities and urgencies as they arise
  • Observing Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy environment within the department

Salary:

Highly Competitive Salary

Hours:

  • Day Shift: Monday – Thursday: 8am – 5pm, Friday: 8am -1pm
  • Morning Shift: Monday – Thursday: 6am – 2pm, Friday: 6am – 1pm
  • Afternoon Shift: Monday – Thursday; 2pm – 10pm, Friday: 1pm – 8pm
