Therapeutic Care Worker

Elysium Healthcare has a network of 41 sites strategically placed across England and Wales. Rhodes Wood Hospital is a specialist treatment centre for children and young people aged 6-18 years who are diagnosed with an eating disorder and require inpatient care.

Annual salary: £18,778.50
Hours per week: 37.5

Our Therapeutic Care Worker role involves:


• Working as a part of the multi-disciplinary team in providing therapeutic care and treatment to the young people and their families
• Demonstrating a positive approach and respect to young people and their families at all times
• Ensuring that the views and opinions of the young people are actively sought and used to support the delivery of family centred care
• Helping to promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of the patient
• Contributing to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with nursing colleagues and medical staff
• Undertaking supportive observations as required
• Understanding the importance of and ensuring that all clinical and legal documents are completed accurately
• Taking an active role in maintaining effective communication with all professionals involved with the care and management of the patient group
• Planning and participating in therapeutic activities and trips as required.
• Regularly participating in supervision, and attending staff training teaching as required
• Being responsible for self-development through Personal Development Review System
• Supporting the catering assistant in preparation of meals and snacks when required
• Adhering to the 'Safer Food Better Business’ standards and record keeping.
• Supporting the process of placing food orders and assist in the management of deliveries and rotating of stock
• Reporting equipment and maintenance problems to the Line Manager
• Adhering strictly to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times
• Not allowing children into the kitchen whilst food is being prepared

To be successful as a Therapeutic Care Worker, you’ll need:

Qualifications
• NVQ Level 3 desirable

Skills and Experience
• Literacy and numeracy to an acceptable standard
• Experience of working in a mental health or eating disorders care setting
• Experience of catering
• Ability to communicate and work as part of a team
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Ability to provide support and listening skills
• Able to follow instructions i.e. Menus, recipes, guidelines, codes of practice
• Able to use general catering equipment safely and correctly
• Knowledge of Health & Safety and fire regulations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
