Theatre Practitioner - Burnley General Teaching Hospital

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time band 5, Theatre Practitioner/ Operating Department Practitioner to join our Team in Theatres at Burnley General Hospital.

We require a committed, motivated, hardworking individual to work in our unit.

Experience is not essential, as training will be given. We have a comprehensive training package as well as a dedicated training and development Sister and cover many specialities.

This post will be predominantly at Burnley but some rotation across site may be required. This post does include participation in weekend and night rotation.

Duties Include:

  • To provide expert standards of care to patients
  • To maintain a safe environment for all
  • To maintain accurate and clear documentation
  • To act as scrub / circulating nurse OR
  • To act as anaesthetic / recovery nurse

These posts are for qualified staff only and you will need to hold qualifications as a Registered Nurse with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) or as an Operating Department Practitioner with the HCPC (Health and Care Professionals), candidates who do not provide details of their registration will not be considered for interview.

The successful candidate must have good, be well motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible in their approach to work.

As this position is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and involves work that is identified as a regulated activity as defined in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006), any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.

The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £48.00, which includes a small handling fee.

In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied. Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary.
