Full Time

Salary up to £58,000

Our client is actively looking for a Theatre Manager to join their team on a full time basis. This private hhospital delivers a range of diagnostic and outpatient services, planned elective in-patient and day case surgery and community rehabilitation comprising of Orthopedics, ENT, general surgery, ophthalmology, oral surgery and endoscopy. Using the latest technology. The client provides high quality specialist care to the people of Kent.

Facilities are spotlessly clean, bright and modern, and our care teams are experienced and friendly setting us apart from any other private facility in the region Responsible To the Head of Nursing & Clinical Services Manager you will be expected to work with colleagues across the six operating theatres in the hospital and will be expected to ensure resources are coordinated effectively and efficiently. A successful applicant will be responsible for the operational management and professional leadership of the theatre suite and will play a key role and maintain a proactive approach to managing the patient flow through the department, working closely with colleagues within the theatre team and Inpatient Ward.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for the operational management and activity of the Operating Theatres and Decontamination Service:

- To provide clinical, professional and managerial leadership that provides direction and highly visible professional leadership for all staff within the teams

- To take a 24 hour overall responsibility for the planning and delivery of safe patient centred care within Theatres and Decontamination Service that delivers against key performance indicators, service efficiencies and improvements in line with the strategic objectives and business plan for the hospital

- Responsible for delivering excellent governance, ensuring all teams and services are legally compliant and adhering to all regulatory Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements and clinical standards

- To provide specialist theatre knowledge and support to Matron and Director of Patient Services

- To be responsible for the day-to-day management of Theatres, liaising and working closely with the Ward/Service Manager to ensure efficient and effective plans and working practices

- To ensure service provision is delivered within agreed budgets, delivering continuous resource management, cost improvement and theatre utilisation results


- The post holder will be required to work 4 clinical shifts per month on a supernumerary basis, and may be required to work shifts, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

- To ensure that all NMC registrations are up to date, providing support for revalidation as required

- To maintain current awareness regarding developments in pre-operative, theatre and decontamination services

- To ensure personal continuing professional development (CPD) is maintained to comply with NMC requirements

- To attend hospital meetings and functions, as required

Proven Knowledge, Training and Experience

- 3+ years as a Theatre Manager, demonstrating considerable leadership experience

- Thorough understanding of clinical standards (e.g. AFPP standards) and regulatory (CQC) frameworks, audits, policies and procedures

- Solid acute surgical care experience

- Managing various relationships at a senior level i.e. Patients, Consultants, healthcare professionals, suppliers

- Management and delivery against budgets and implementing cost efficiency savings

- RGN/ODP Qualification

- ILS and ENB 998 Qualification
