It’s an exciting time to join, as in 2017 CAF celebrated its 100th year, and announced plans to build a new state-of-the art assembly hub in Newport. The new assembly hub is being designed to build a range of different trains, including diesel multiple units (DMUs), electric multiple units (EMUs), trams and high speed trains.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Testing and Commissioning Technician for the Transpennine Coach Project will be responsable for receiving each train from the production team and carrying out a structured, purpose-written test plan to ensure that each system on the train is in full working order.  

Key Responsibilities

Testing and Commissioning

Carry out on-board testing for several test trains before their release into service.

Able to work at complex level tasks involving troubleshooting, testing, quality control, tuning, complicated repairs.

Working with the Production Supervisor to discuss and/or resolve problems.

Ensure that assignments are completed in the established and required time periods.

Complete test reports, internal adjustments, and pending job information accurately.

Essential

Minimum NVQ Level 3 in an Electrical or Mechanical discipline.

Essential

Relevant experience in a testing and engineering equivalent role in railway/rolling stock environment.

Excellent IT skills including experience of Microsoft packages including Excel.

Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.

Able to maintain accurate records.

Able to work flexibly across a broad range of activities as the role evolves.

Able to respond and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced pressured environment.

Able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

Desirable

May be required to work overtime.
