Due to a growing demand to modernise our applications we are looking to extend our environment and configuration capability. Through a programme of modernisation we are increasing our use of new technologies. We are looking for an individual with extensive experience of technology who is also forward thinking and has experience of automation ideally developing continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
As a Test Environment and Configuration Engineer, you’ll provide an Environment Management service to planned releases and projects and propose and deliver changes to tools, standards and processes. You’ll help upskills colleagues in scheduling, defining, building, deploying and supporting all non-production environments and manage the safe delivery of applications through the project lifecycle. You’ll be a key team player, understanding business challenges and drivers and support the Environment Management Technical Leads in identifying industry and technology trends. We’ll look to you to manage the environment capacity in line with demand from projects, ensuring conflicts are resolved or escalated, and manage the test environment access and data.
Undertaking routine installations and de-installations of items of hardware and software, you’ll take actions to ensure targets are met within established safety and quality procedures. As an expert, you’ll provide specialist guidance and advice to colleagues and ensure the best use is made of available assets. As an innovator, you’ll maintain awareness of opportunities provided by new technology to address challenges or enable new ways of working.
To be brilliant, you’ll ideally be ITIL Foundation certified, experienced in analysing project documentation to understand core design and development principles and understand the impact on test environments and configuration management. You’ll have the ability to provision, build and maintain test environments with sound working knowledge of application lifecycle management.
You’ll also have extensive experience in the following technologies and platforms:
Build, Config and Deployment of components into Integration platforms
Microsoft Team Foundation Server
Scripting languages eg. PowerShell and Bash
Experience in some of the following technologies and platforms is desirable:
Oracle databases including SQL and PL/SQL. Oracle Application Express (Apex)
Containers ( eg. Docker )
VB & VB.NET
Windows and Linux servers
Puppet / Chef / DSC

Salary: Up to £50,500 per annum plus amazing benefits
