Test Automation Engineer

The Test Automation Engineer will be part of a test team working closely with your development teams in an agile environment, using a variety of commercial and open source test tools such as; selenium, neoload and jira to plan and execute test suites.

You'll be responsible for the coordination, creation, execution and maintenance of automated test scripts to ensure quality control standards are achieved.

Roles and Responsibilites:

  • Identify automation requirements and create regression packs
  • Design and create the automation frame work
  • Create a performance testing approach based on the non-functional requirements
  • Plan, implement, execute and document all aspects of performance testing (load, stress, soak, spike) using open source solutions
  • Work closely with the Development Team to ensure all issues/defects are dealt with in a timely and professional manner
  • Create detailed performance test reports and circulate to the Development Teams whilst help identify any bottlenecks
  • Work with the Test Manager to review project documentation, such as functional requirements, technical specifications etc.
  • Write, monitor, execute and evaluate application tests using industry standard automated testing tools
  • Maintain automated test scripts to meet software release deliverables, project testing requirements and other quality assurance considerations
  • Implement continuous integration tools
  • Conduct multi browser/device testing using open source tools
  • Attend scrum stand ups , sprint planning, task estimation meetings with the Development Team

Skills and Experience Required:

Essential

  • Professional test automation experience using Selenium WebDriver (writing code in C# or Java)
  • Experience with automated test frameworks
  • Commercial performance testing experience with tools like Neoload, Jmeter or Load Runner
  • Experience with databases and writing SQL to query the databases
  • Experience in an Agile environment where Development teams practice Continuous
  • Integration and TDD/BDD
  • Experience of working with workflow management and defect management tools. (Jira, qTest etc.)
  • Knowledge of key internet technologies such as ASP.net, HTML, AJAX, TCP/IP, DNS, Firewalls etc
  • Ability to design and construct effective functional and non-functional tests
  • Exposure to software release/build process/SDLC
  • Experience testing web preferably in a .NET environment
  • Use of Visual Studio and source control

Desirable

  • ISEB foundation certificate in Software Testing or Certified Agile tester
  • Previous experience within the Financial Services industry
  • Experience using a Test case management tools like qTest or Zephyr
  • Experience is using Specflow and test case management tools
