An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our client’s thinking trials team based in Oxfordshire/Hampshire on a 4-5 month fixed term contract with the potential for this to become permanent for the right individual.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring, maintenance and harvesting at the Trials Centre and other external sites.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and ideally have experience in trials but this is not essential as training will be provided for the right candidate This role requires a full UK driving licence. PA1, PA2 and or PA6 licenses would be desirable.
Roles and Responsibilities
Assist with the day to day management of 2 trial sites in the southern region
Preparation of seed, drilling and establishing plots at the three trial sites
To help in the preparation of chemical solutions and spray as required
To monitor crops to ensure treatments are applied accurately and on time
To assist in plant and soil sampling and disease assessments as required
The day to day planning and execution of spray and fertilizer programmes
To ensure trial protocols are adhered to
To ensure plots are harvested on time and correct grain samples taken and sent to laboratories
To work closely with Frontier trials members to ensure success
To deliver trials to agreed protocols within strict time frames
The supervision of trials assistant and harvest students as required
To notify trials teams with regular updates relating to trial progression
To prepare and circulate regular updates from trials for key stakeholders
Ability to work as part of a team
The ability to communicate effectively with both customers and colleagues, both in person and by telephone
The ability to evaluate problems and develop solutions to respond to changes in customer requirements
Conscientious with proven attention to detail
A flexible approach to working hours due to seasonal demands, including evenings and weekends.
Good Computer Skills with experience in all aspects of Microsoft Office
Excellent organisational skills, including prioritising workloads, meeting deadlines and managing a varied workload in a busy environment
The ability to build and develop effective working relationships
A full driving licence
Adhere to health and safety policies
A strong interest in Agriculture
