Technical Warehouse Operative / Picker Packer

The Job

Great opportunity to join a trusted small business that specialises in repairing and re-selling UPS (uninterruptible power supplies). The large pay range given is to encourage both people with little experience, and lots of prior relevant experience to apply. We are paying more than the industry average, and we have higher standards.

The core of the job is Warehousing, but as we are refurbishing and testing units before we ship them out it is not just a pick and pack role, but has a preparation element too. You learn this on the job. Its this that makes the role more challenging and rewarding than most warehousing jobs.

  • We will take on either one full time person or two part time workers at 20- 30 hours per week.
  • The position is Permanent.

There is a good variety of work. Each day has different tasks. I've given an example of a working day below:

  • Arrive + clock in.
  • Prep easy orders from labels printed.
  • Test / repair / cosmetically refurbish more complex orders and leave on test
  • Process goods arriving into stock
  • Lunch
  • Pack items that have been on test
  • Build stock of common used parts / cell sets
  • Confirm parcel day count + dispatch goods
  • Tidy / lockup + Home

At the start you will be predominantly packing and building cellpacks, as you become more skilled you will move to more complex tasks - and get paid more.

Who we're looking for

You must work well as part of a small team.
You must be able to work hard under your own supervision.
You must have good health + fitness.

You do not need any prior experience as we will provide training for everything you do. Interest in electronics / DIY / Tinkering is seen as a bonus. Examples from past candidates is fixing toaster, installing car stereo etc. Fork Lift truck experience is a boon.

I want to note that we have taken in people from a totally different backgrounds (shelf stacking / cleaning / music / pensions / engineering college) and it does not really matter, provided you want to work you can learn what you need from us while you're here. To match your increasing capabilities there is ongoing pay progression based on development of skills and experience.

We are small, well established (17 years) and trusted business that looks after its employees. We rebuild used UPS units and re-sell them, and provide parts and support to existing customers. We have a great reputation and working environment.

We are a flexible and understanding employer. Example, if you need to collect kids, no problem. If you want to work part time you can split it how you like.
