The role of the Technical Specialist is to support the HR/Payroll Specialist in all aspects of HR, Payroll and pension information management and system processes.
To provide technical advice and guidance on HR, Payroll and pensions.
To produce and provide error/exception payroll reports to support with the accuracy of payroll runs.
To plan, produce and review payroll timetables taking into account internal/external customers and business needs, and ensuring this information is communicated to the relevant parties, e.g. updating the Hub intranet pages, etc.
To support with testing on new operational procedures and to train and provide guidance to the Operational team.
To assist with identifying current system issues and testing any fixes that have been implemented to ensure these are rectified and the process is fit for purpose
To be responsible for analysing data for accuracy and consistency and identifying where errors exist, then communicating this with Team Leaders in order for data cleansing
To support with the monthly/annual pension and RTI returns.
To provide information/data that is required for the administration of any new schemes that will have an affect on salary
To collate information required for any academy conversion including effective time management in line with implementation dates, and to be responsible for ensuring that once these have been converted, the data held is accurate.
To be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payrolls in line with the payroll deadline dates
Ensuring Pre/Post Payroll Reports and Supplier Reports are produced and provided to relevant stakeholders in an accurate and timely manner.
To run Payroll exception reports prior to Payroll run.
To be responsible for the reconciliation of salary sacrifice schemes.
To upload any claim data into the Payroll system.
To ensure SLA and payroll costs are recharged, raising invoices where applicable.
To collate data and support with Freedom of Information requests.
To support the wider team and customers with information reports.
Build and maintain excellent relationships across The Hub and with managers and other colleagues across the Council.
Take ownership for personal development, career growth and building own skills and business knowledge. Undertake suitable training as and when required to keep abreast of developments.
