Engineering... It’s like getting paid to do your hobby... Challenging, busy, varied and fun, it’s tailor-made for being sold.
We’re looking for someone whose passion for engineering sells itself.
Are you proactive and influential in a sales and customer-facing context?
Do you have a mechanical mindset - an engineering background featuring hands-on experience?
Are you eager to learn and ambitious, seeking a long-term position with career progression?
If so..., this is your chance.
The company a global leader and a flagship OEM in bespoke machinery and turnkey solutions, with a quality of product and service that sets us apart.
As our next Technical Sales Engineer, you’ll be managing the sales process from cradle to grave - you know the drill: enquiry, concept solution, estimating, tender writing, internal development, and close.
You’ll be getting stuck into a growing portfolio of blue-chip clients and sectors, across aerospace, composites, mining, quarrying, refractory and concrete manufacture.
Your engineering background will be vital. A lot of your work will be bespoke problem-solving.
You’ll need to call on an apprentice-trained mechanical engineering background - for example, perhaps you previously worked in a CNC, Fabrication or Fitter context.
You’ll be working closely with two directors, soaking up their knowledge and advice. Training and development - courses and qualifications etc. - is also encouraged. We have a proven, successful learning culture - our Operations Director joined us as a grad!
Your Working Day
Although you’ll be part of a small team of three to four, you’ll be engaging with up to 40 people. It’s an active and enjoyable environment.
Your activities will include responding to sales enquiries, client visits and customer meetings, attending events and exhibitions, recommending machines, managing tender specifications, costing and estimating, writing technical reports, conducting risk assessments, and assisting with product launches.
Your core hours will be 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8am to 1pm on Fridays. When necessary, of course, you’ll go the extra mile - whether it’s finishing off a tender or preparing an exhibition.
Location and Travel
Some 75% of your time will be at our office in Wakefield, with the rest spent travelling - within the UK, mainly, but occasionally in Europe.
If you live within 40 or so miles of Wakefield and are happy to commute, like some of us, no problem. It’s easy to reach us by car or train.
If you fancy moving closer, Wakefield is busy and vibrant and close to other major cities, as well as being near the Pennines and Peak District for outdoor, countryside activities.
Please submit an up-to-date CV, tailored to this opportunity. This is a salaried position; the full package is negotiable and will be discussed in due course.
Please Note: When applying for one of our vacancies, we will create a private application on our website so that the employer can view and respond to you.
