REED Engineering & Manufacturing are working with a leading Engineering & Manufacturing Company with a global client base.


To lead and champion the metallurgical and technical requirements of the group throughout Sheffield.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure all tasks & work complies with Health & Safety, environmental & quality policies and procedures of the company and champion these policies & procedures at all times.

• Lead the Company technical & metallurgical team in the Sheffield Plant.

• Provide technical support to Sales desk.

• Support the QA manager in investigation and closure of all CAPA involving significant technical involvement.

• Support the QA Manager with implementation of internal audit schedule and be active in ensuring the company quality & technical requirements are adhered to.

• Overview the technical aspects of the Sheffield HT plant particularly with respect to specified soak times and temperatures and monthly review of test failures.

• Manage approval process of all “special process suppliers” allocated to Sheffield.

• Production of technical reports as required internally or by customers.

• Generate and maintain Company specifications as agreed with Group Technical & Quality Director.

• Generate and maintain all H1/001 specifications specific to Sheffield Plant.

• Manage incoming and despatch certification and MSS + data entry.

• On project type orders support the production of these with daily technical support / guidance as needed.

• Manage MPQP/ MPS requirements, with new support staff working.

• Manage the Sheffield first of class API 20B qualification records. & Norsok M650 qualifications records.

• Authority to approve and release concessions without limitations.

Competencies

• Strong leadership skills, problem solving skills, ability to mentor & support others.

• Competence in open die forging of low alloy and nickel products.

• Competence in key technical and quality issues relating to heat treatment of low alloy and nickel alloy steels.

• Competence and knowledge of all Group purchasing requirements.

• Competence and knowledge of main customer material specification requirements.

• Customer focus approach to maintaining departmental throughput to meet order due date.

• Team working and understanding of Quality methodologies such as 5 why & fishbone diagrams.

• ISO 9001 and API Q1 expectations on non -conformities corrective action, preventative action, Risk & MofC.

• Competence in key technical and quality issues relating to heat treatment of low alloy and nickel alloy steels.

Accountabilities and Performance Measures


• Target of zero on Health & Safety, incidents with in reporting responsibilities.

• Time frame for closure on CAPA specified in CAPA procedure is met, the CAPA content address the root cause and if a CA it is closed wherever possible as effective.

• Low alloy testing failures
• Ni alloy testing failure
• Reports generated and accepted by customers.

• Specifications issued that balance customer requirements with mill agreements.

• 80% of MPQP generated within 3 working days.

• Approval process by customers running smoothly.



• Qualified to degree level in Metallurgy or other related discipline or 2 year qualification in metallurgy or other related disciple (HNC/HND/ foundation degree)
plus a minimum of 10 years direct experience in oil patch metallurgical issues would be highly advantageous.

• IRCA lead auditor qualification

• Microsoft systems/ HES/QNG/iMetals

• Experience in a variety of quality management approaches to identifying and eliminating root causes.
