Job Profile

At Eurotherm by Schneider Electric we create offers for regulated industrial market. We make devices which control process variables and data management systems which securely record those process variables for later analysis and long term record keeping. We also offer certification services and a platform which other certificate providers can use to collect data, check compliance and issue certificates. We are looking for a highly experienced full-stack Web Developer who will use their skills and expertise to help our teams deliver high quality offers which are built cleanly, well tested and performant. We require someone who is comfortable working with the Microsoft ASP.NET MVC stack with SQL or NoSQL databases and can architect and build a multi-layer application with JavaScript in the browser through to C# API code on the server. We are using modern web technologies to push the boundaries of web applications within our market.

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

A Technical Lead / Software Architect is expected to:

· Drive key technical decisions for implementation of the software policy in the organisation.

· Documents architecture aspects of software, including requirements, design, implementation of the system, risks and alternative vendors.

· Subdivide complex applications into manageable pieces.

· Communicate with and support designers/engineers to maintain the consistency of the architecture

· Take responsibility for overall system architecture and design.

· Have extensive knowledge of specific areas of the product development or technology and actively assist other engineers in areas of expertise.

· Have detailed knowledge and the ability to implement using complex techniques.

· Be able to coach and assist other engineers in the use of complex techniques.

· Challenge assumptions and strive to find better solutions in discussion with others.

· Identify opportunities in product development that will provide benefits and value to the customer.

· Provide support to the validation phase of the development and the validation department.

· Take recommendations for development tools and/or negotiations related to bought-in parts, products or tools which support product design and development.

· Take part in activities that are necessary for the R&D department to develop, e.g. represent the Company in the wider community.

· Identify and suggest ways of improving the company working practices and participate in implementing change.

· Have knowledge of and be able to interpret compliance standards.

· Perform research in areas defined by oneself or others.

SOFTWARE SKILLS

Required:

· Proven full-stack architect skills using the Microsoft web stack.

· Experience of scaling web applications using e.g. Load Balancing.

· Strong C# development skills.

· Strong experience of developing with ASP.NET MVC.

· Proven web application development skills using HTML, JavaScript and CSS.

· SQL design and programming experience.

· Experience of one or more NoSQL databases, e.g. Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Cassandra.

· Experience of working with an Agile development method, e.g. Scrum.

· Experience of unit testing frameworks such as nUnit, with a commitment to Test-Driven Development.

· Configuration Management tools, e.g. GitHub or Subversion.

Desirable:

· Experience of developing for, and deploying to Microsoft Azure.

· Experience of developing with the AngularJS framework.

· Experience using code quality tools e.g. Klocwork, Resharper and FxCop.

· Experience with Continuous Integration systems such as Jenkins.

· Knowledge of secure development practices, e.g. OWASP.

MANAGEMENT SKILLS

A Technical Lead / Software Architect is expected to:

· Take responsibility for overall product architecture and design.

· Take an active role in major projects of strategic importance to the company.

· Work in conjunction with engineers across other projects to ensure a consistent approach to architecture and process.

· Drive innovation in the offer that increases the value to the customer.

· Organise workload and prioritise work for others.

· Strong communication and teamwork skills.

· Support the creation and management of project plans and budgets.

· Take responsibility for product quality and usability.

· Lead process improvement initiatives and successfully deliver measurable benefits.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

A degree in a Computer Science or a similar discipline is required.
