Our client has a full time vacancy within the Large Loss Team for a Technical Claims Advisor to handle claims valued in excess of £500,000. Primarily the jobholder will be responsible for ensuring the catastrophic claims that are allocated to them are handled and settled as pro-actively and cost-effectively as possible; using good judgment in the use of their own authority to ensure work produced meets the company’s overall objectives.
The successful applicant must be flexible and will deal with all aspects of claims handling including letter writing, telephone contact, diary management, valuation, negotiation and settlement (to include agreeing and managing periodical payments). This includes giving instructions to solicitors, counsel and many types of expert and the applicant must be confident in doing this. The types of claims they will be expected to handle are:
Complex fatal claims
Complex heads of claim
Advanced liability issues
Due to the nature of this role the successful applicant is likely to be required to travel on business, which will include attending conferences/meetings outside of core hours at various locations throughout the UK, however prior notice will be given.
Candidates must possess an excellent and extensive knowledge of claims handling. A major part of the role does involve mentoring staff and dealing with referrals to provide technical advice and guidance. It is expected that candidates will have handled claims over £100,000.Qualifications
The successful candidate must already have level 6 of the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF). This equates to:
BTEC Advanced Professional Diplomas
ACII Level 6/FCII Level 7
ILM6 Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring or Management
