Technical Architect

We are looking for a Technical Architect to join the team and define the technical architecture and design for solutions that support Achilles products.

You will see the "big picture" and create architectural approaches for software design and implementation to guide the development team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for defining the overall structure of a programme or system
  • Collaborating to determine functional and non-functional requirements
  • Developing high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility
  • Researching relevant literature, communities and forums to gain insight (e.g. best practices, trends, innovation) to assist in ensuring the target application architecture remains contemporary
  • Determining, documenting and maintaining target architecture for domain
  • Defining and maintaining the application architecture
  • Evaluating alternative solution options and associated costs
  • Conducting fit-gap analysis of alternative software solutions against the target architecture
  • Running proof of concepts for new solutions, as appropriate

Required experience:

  • Previous experience in a Technical Architect role (ideally having progressed from a hands-on development role)
  • Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture
  • Experience of using an enterprise architecture framework such as TOGAF 9 to develop architectures
  • Knowledgeable of external best practices and trends within the application domain
  • Working for a data services/product organisation is an advantage

Technology snapshot:

  • Strong knowledge of UML and other modelling methods
  • Knowledge of C# (and familiar with OOAD, OOD, DDD and TDD principles)
  • Web application development (ASP.NET MVC)
  • SQL Server, NoSQL (specifically NEO4J and Couchbase)
  • ETL tools such as SSIS
