Technical Administrator

We currently have a vacancy for a Technical Analyst based at our Nottingham site (Private Road 2, Colwick Industrial Estate, Nottingham NG4 2JR).

The main purpose of this role is to act as an administrator support for the Biffa Fuels Team

You will be required undertake weekly and monthly reports and quality auditing of production sites on a 6 monthly basis. You will work with the Regional Admin, Cashiers and Purchase Ledger Departments to ensure short payment terms for European suppliers are adhered to.

This role is a hands-on role involving the use of many personal skills such as relationship management, people and resource management. With the ability to build key internal relationships at all levels up to Senior Management within the business across a number of departments as well as the ability to build key relationships with external customers.

The post requires good time management, and will liaise with internal and external personnel.

More details:

  • Supply planning - yearly/quarterly/monthly/weekly planning, shared with production site, Recovery Partners, Logistics.
  • Monitor and report RDF volumes against internal budgets and commercial contract volumes, put-or-pay agreements. Propose schedule changes to achieve required targets.
  • Organise Fuel Measurement and Sampling (FMS) regime to ensure fuel samples are collected and results are received promptly.
  • Compile reports of FMS results tailored to several audiences - internal & external.
  • Assist with the compilation, submission and maintenance of Transfrontier Shipment (TFS) applications. Includes the coordination of TFS financial guarantee/bond arrangements.
  • Review, monitor and report active loads of Biffa TFS notifications; working with production and recovery sites to ensure recovery certificates are recorded correctly; liaise with EA.
  • Mobilisations, export & UK - work with specific project teams, Procurement and other Biffa departments to mobilise new supply projects, set up new suppliers and disposal sites.
  • Engage with Recovery Partners to deal with day-to-day operational matters.


  • Minimum grade `C` or equivalent in GCSE Maths & English.
  • `A` level or equivalent education (desirable)
  • Working with Microsoft Office.
  • Handling large sets of data.
  • Using databases/spreadsheets to track data and information.
  • Working with authoritative bodies i.e. Environment Agency (desirable)
