TECHNICAL ACCOUNTANT (IFRS)

Purpose:

To review, challenge and analyse the year end consolidated and entity only, statutory reporting results, primary statements and corresponding notes. To review the results and preparation of quarterly investor reporting.

Key Accountabilities:

  • deliver a timely and accurate set of Annual Report & Accounts and Quarterly reporting
  • liaise with all relevant internal stakeholders to provide periodic updates on the progress of the Accounts
  • developing and maintaining a strong relationship and becoming a key contact with external auditors
  • manage internal stakeholder relationships and timely receipt of deliverables
  • provide ad-hoc training and technical insight to other members of the team regarding accounting developments and disclosures as required
  • analyse quarterly results, identifying and understanding reasons for significant movements
  • ensure consistent reporting of information within the Accounts - front and back half, and full tie-in of primary statements and supporting notes to the accounts
  • identify efficiencies in the Accounts production process and implement these procedure changes
  • aid with the assessment of the impact of changes to accounting standards, and implementation of changes as necessary
  • escalate any risks or potential delays to the process to senior management immediately
  • ensure that all information is gathered from individual departments within the bank within the required timeframes, and the relevant heads of departments sign off on their data
  • ensure that the production and review process for the Accounts is fully documented to ensure that it could be carried out in the absence of the role holder
  • follow internal governance processes for the approval of accounting interpretation and prepare/present papers
  • Build relationships from Finance with other departments

Knowledge & Skills required:

  • In depth knowledge of Statutory Reporting
  • IFRS experience
  • Stakeholder management skills
  • Qualified Accountant ideally with a Big 4 education
  • Experience working with financial services clients
