Team Teach Teaching Assistant working 1:1 in a Mainstream Primary school in Greenwich
A 'Good' school in Greenwich is seeking a committed teaching assistant to work 1:1 with a KS1 pupil with ASD and challenging behaviour. The school are very keen to hear from candidates who have team teach/restraint training and that can start immediately.
This role will be a full-time job working Monday to Friday from 08:30 - 15:45 and will be a long term assignment until July 2018 however the first week will be half days to allow the child to settle.
The successful candidate would be required to work towards the following:
-Employ strategies for behaviour management and report any problems to the teacher, able to de-escalate
-Report any progress towards target for the pupil's behaviour support plan
-Be consistent with boundaries but also aware of when a change would be beneficial e.g to do a task for 5 minutes but when child becomes agitated after 3 minutes take the decision to end the task (child feels objective achieved) give praise and continue for a few moments longer and end on a positive.
-Promote independent learning
- Have resilience
-Experience using team teach training
-Year 1, bright, but being educated in Reception due to SEMH
-Never attended school
-Has epilepsy which is under control at present
-Was isolated in previous setting (nursery/play group) attended for short period and home educated until now
