Team Leader - (Young People's Supported Living)

Evro are urgently recruiting for a Team Leader (with NVQ Level 3 or higher) to take charge of a brand new service covering Gloucester, Somerset, Bristol and Bath.

If you're an ambitious team leader, looking for a role in which you can progress quickly to Service Manager, and beyond.

We are looking for someone who can help us build a team around them and hit the ground running.

Roles and responsibilities - Support

  • Attend placement planning meetings with YP and professionals
  • Ensure YP is inducted on admission, explaining house rules and welcome pack etc
  • Promote independence by regularly reviewing support levels in line with YP's changing needs and abilities and liaise with senior managers to make recommendations on how this should be adjusted
  • Work with Key Workers to ensure YP development areas are identified and acted upon to support them to become independent
  • With the YP agreement, work with team to act on YPs behalf and advocate for them when appropriate
  • Ensure all staff (including yourself) promote, acknowledge and respect the privacy, dignity, diversity, rights and responsibilities of YP to enable them to meet their goals and aspirations and to build and maintain their self worth and individuality
  • Act as an escalation point for staff and apply relevant non-aversive de-escalation / distraction techniques to effectively diffuse problems and train and coach staff to do the same
  • Apply the correct protocol, immediately, upon any suspicion, evidence or allegation of any concern in relation to child protection, in accordance with our client’s policies and procedures
  • Respect and enforce professional boundaries and communicate professionally with YP, colleagues, professionals and agencies
  • Ensure general up keep of the house is to a high standard by ensuring maintenance issues are followed up in a timely manner

Support plans

  • Design, implement, review and communicate support plans in line with Pathway Plan / Achievement Plan and risk assessment. Create and ensure completion of key documents and YP file
  • Oversee and delegate effectively to staff and young people to ensure activities are happening to deliver the support plans, ensuring staff and YP are aware of the information needed to complete tasks successfully
  • Produce reports and correspondence to a high professional standard and train staff to do the same
  • Liaise with professionals / carers as necessary and attend professional meetings as required
  • Ensure concerns and reasons for them are properly identified and logged using the correct forms and communicated effectively to relevant parties


  • Provide on call assistance to ensure YP and staff are safe and to provide a fast response (either in person or over the phone)
  • Manage a team of Key Workers and Support Workers, ensuring they are performing their role competently, recognising good performance and managing any issues that arise
  • Induct and train new team members and ensure they are aware of current legal, professional and administrative practices and procedures that apply within the organisation
  • Conduct regular supervisions to monitor performance and behaviours, identify and request relevant training and development
  • Work with HR to address any performance or conduct issues
  • Cover any gaps on shift or provide a second person on duty, until relief staff can be secured
  • Guide and support staff, assisting them in their professional development and advising them in relation to behaviour management
  • Ensure staff room privacy is protected and that staff do not allow young people into the staff room for any reason
  • Assist in the day to day management of petty cash system
