Purpose of Position

  • To ensure the effective service delivery within a designated area on a day-to-day basis.
  • To supervise and support staff and service users within a designated area.
  • To contribute to the implementation of service developments and operational functions within the Domiciliary Care Service to meet Directorate and corporate policies and objectives.

Principal Responsibilities

To co-ordinate and supervise a group of staff and resources, in order to provide a range of Domiciliary Care Services within a designated area.

To ensure the promotion of independence and individual rights of service users is observed at all times with regard to choice, equality, diversity and culture.

To assist with all aspects of individual personal care needs, including assistance with dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and continence including the administration of medication.

To ensure the service delivery meets the outcome focussed care plan and to participate and contribute to the review process.

To provide supervision and support to front line staff, to ensure effective communication is established.

To contribute to staff development and staff appraisal process and identification of individual training needs.

To be responsible for monitoring and audit of information regarding staff and service users which is relevant and appropriate to the role and compliant with GDPR.

To establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with colleagues and staff members.

To assess Domiciliary Care staff to ensure competent in accordance with nationally agreed standards.

To undertake complex environmental Risk Assessments; and contribute to the Moving and Handling assessments process.

To participate in the induction of staff.

To assist with the performance management of staff in compliance with corporate policy.

To ensure compliance with Alina Homecare policies and procedures.

To contribute to the co-ordination and development and planning and implementation of specialist homecare projects where required.

To ensure that administration and monitoring systems are maintained in compliance with all legislation and the maintenance of quality management systems.

To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

To ensure the effective service delivery is maintained.

To plan and organise team meetings for staff in a designated area.

To contribute and participate in ones own self-development.

To undertake any other duties, appropriate to the post, which may from time to time be required, by the director of adult, community & housing services.
Person Specification — Essential Criteria

  • Experience of working with adults with a Learning disability in a Domiciliary Care setting.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and statutory requirements for the delivery of Social Care.
  • Driver with own car and business insurance.
  • Must have good computer skills.
  • Self-Motivated.
  • Flexible.
  • Good Team Worker.
  • Able to work under own initiative.
  • Good Communicator.
  • Have an understanding of a needs-led outcomes based service
  • Committed to quality care and services provision

Qualifications Required

NVQ 3 in health and Social Care or equivalent

Practical Skills

Ability to plan, develop, monitor and effectively evaluate service delivery and care packages

Ability to develop effective working relationships in a multi-functional team

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in a clear, concise and accurate manner

Ability to effective time manage in order to meet department targets and prioritise conflicting demands

Ability to challenge others appropriately

Ability to respond to Service Users / demands of service delivery in a flexible manner and organise out of hours rota system

Ability to utilise IT and Microsoft packages
