Team Leader - Desk Based IFA Team

My client is a national independent financial advisory firm. The company's Financial Advisers cover a wide range of financial needs, from the simple to the most complex.


Objectives and Responsibilities include the following, other objectives may be assigned:

  • To lead the connect function and develop members of the team
  • Take responsibility for the achievement of sales and service standards as communicated by the Line Manager
  • To ensure the Connect function operates in a controlled manner and in line with external regulation and internal audit, compliance and risk parameters and guidelines
  • To oversee correct application by the team of the companys processes and procedures
  • To provide operational input and expertise into complex matters or projects as required
  • Provide support to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Heads of Channel, other senior management and the wider management team as required
  • To create a culture of high-level service provision from the team
  • Coach, develop and lead the individual members of the connect team, dealing with underperformance where necessary
  • Perform one to ones and annual reviews with the team in line with company expectations to ensure the development of the individuals and they perform to company standards
  • The role holder will be expected to exhibit great care and attention to detail when dealing with our customers and understanding customers' needs and requirements, demonstrating respect and patience at all times
  • Check the work of team members and providing suitable feedback including call monitoring as appropriate
  • Provide both advice and guidance direct to members contacting the connect team as required
  • Effective written communication to new and existing clients
  • Outbound telephone activity to existing and potential new clients


Knowledge Required

  • The requisite technical knowledge and qualification (e.g. QCA Level 4 exams)
  • Knowledge of the financial planning market including products and services
  • Working knowledge of FCA rules, guidance notes and commitments that apply to the job role
  • Experience in an IFA/wealth management environment


Essential Skills

  • IT literate, including all Microsoft packages
  • Ability to achieve stretching targets and KPIs
  • Gravitas and credibility to lead a high profile and developing team
  • Excellent and well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal, for internal and external purposes
  • Confidence to deal effectively with clients, colleagues and product providers
