Team Leader Children's Support Worker - Northampton

Are you a Residential Care Team Leader with at least 12 months experience working with young people who have complex needs?

Would you like to join our committed and developing team located in Northampton?

We are looking to recruit up to 1 new team members to complete our staff team. We support 3 Young People aged 14 - 17 who present a variety of complex needs and also have a separate nearby residence for emergency accommodation.

Salary: £9.80 (dependent of experience/qualifications)

You must be over 21 years of age and hold a full UK driving licence

Located in Towcester the site is a very large 9 bedroom Property which includes a flat attached to it. The house is spacious and team believes it has a family and homely feel.

This home is a lot larger than other Cambian homes and has very easy access to and from Northampton and Milton Keynes, with a large number of local amenities nearby.

Types of duties

These can be varied but are all centered on the young person and can include:
Providing encouragement when getting ready for school
Transportation (Use of Company Car)
Care Planning
Meal Planning
Ensure each shift is planned appropriately and resources are allocated, guaranteeing the staff team are able to meet the needs of Children & Young People
Lead a team 
Ensure systems are developed to confirm the effective allocation of resources and will promote the efficient and effective operation of the Home.
Organising and facilitating social activities (outside of school)
Maintaining the home (cleaning, laundry and shopping etc.)
Home management
Liaising with external stakeholders and our own multi-disciplinary team

The day can be very unpredictable and quite easily you could spend the entire afternoon providing 1:1 support managing extremely challenging behaviour, the right type of person needs to be flexible, adaptable and able to read situations and help our young people make positive choices.

Shift patterns – what a typical 2 week rota could look like

Week 1

Monday – 08:00 – 23:00

Tuesday – Day off

Wednesday – Day off

Thursday – 08:00 – 23:00

Friday – Day off

Saturday – Day off

Sunday – 10:00 – 23:00

Week 2

Monday – Day off

Tuesday – Day off

Wednesday – 10:00 – 23:00

Thursday – Day off

Friday – Day off

Saturday – 10:00 – 23:00

Sunday – Day off

Please be aware that the shifts above do not include sleep ins. Sleep ins are conducted at the managers request you will find yourself doing an average of 10 Sleep ins in a month. The hours for a sleep in shift would be 08:00 – 23:00 and then 07:30 – 10:30 the following morning. There is some flexibility of working and our manager knows how important a good work life balance is for her team.

You will need the following skills/qualifications:

A passion for working with children
At least 12 months experience in Children’s Residential Care as Team Lead
Excellent communication skills and a good team player
Strong determination to succeed
Effective leadership and Management
A willingness to learn

You will be expected to have a level 3 diploma in Health & Social care.
