Hillcrest New Barn is a good School. It offers a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum to boys and girls, aged 6 - 16 years who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health complexities. As the Teaching Assistant for New Barn School, you will have a passion for working with pupils and assisting them on their journey, which may have included all manner of set-backs in and outside of education. You must be prepared to go above and beyond.
We are looking to appoint flexible, dynamic and dedicated people with experience of, or an interest in working with pupils with Special Educational Needs.
The successful candidates will have a varied role, which involves supporting the teacher in all aspects of planning lessons in and out of the classroom, helping to prepare materials and resources, and working together with the teacher to ensure that pupils receive the most effective support. You will be able to demonstrate a practical, hands on approach to supporting teaching.
Previous experience of working with pupils with SEN is desirable but not essential for the right person.

Your duties will include:
- Supporting the teacher in all aspects of planning lessons, preparing materials and resources
- Manage the day to day operations of the Secondary Site
- Encourage and reward positive behaviours
- Supervise and Support the Children & Young People
Key Skills required:
- Effective communication skills
- Behaviour management
- Ideally you will have previous experience in supporting Children & Young People with Challenging behaviours
- Full UK driving licence required
This is a full time temporary position with a view to go permanent in April 2018; we are offering a competitive salary of up to £9.62 per hour along with a wide range of industry leading benefits.
