Many Primary schools are experiencing increased levels of their student body having SEN requirements, due to improved diagnoses for SEN and learning difficulties. This is no different for a Primary school in Abingdon.
Many of the children attending mainstream Primary schools qualify for a SEN provision, however due to limited Government funding there simply is not enough spaces. This is where you come into it!
The Abingdon based Primary school NEEDS more Teaching Assistant - SEN to join their team. To be adaptive and understand the diverse SEN requirements in varying degrees. Some students can manage in a classroom setting, with some additional support form yourself, verses other students requiring 1:1 and potential outside classroom interventions.
Your Teaching Assistant - SEN daily duties:
- Collaborating with the KS1/KS2 class teacher and other experienced staff members to educate the Abingdon pupils.
- Manage challenging behaviours that may arise, training and techniques will be given.
- 1:1 (one-to-one) teaching support, where you may have to adapt the task to the Abingdon child's needs/interests to communicate the information.
- Identify potential triggers for the pupils in regard to their trauma and mental health needs, be able to offer an alternative focus to calm down the KS1/KS2 Student(s).
(Abingdon) Teaching Assistant - SEN experience:
- Working with children (eg. Tutoring): 1 year (preferred)
Qualifications:
- GCSE (must have Maths and English) - Minimum grade 4/C (required)
- 2:1 degree (Psychology, Sociology and Criminology (preferred, not required)
- SEN certifications (preferred, not required)
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (preferred)
