Teaching Assistant PECS and Makaton

I am currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant who has experience in PECS and Makaton to work within a mainstream Primary School in the LEA of Thurrock. The role will be to support a child in Year 2 who has Complex Needs and Autism who requires a patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work on a one to one basis with her using PECS and Makaton.

The school is looking for a committed and focused SEN Teaching Assistant with experience of working previously as a Teaching Assistant in either a SEN or Mainstream School.  The pupil that you will be assigned to work 1:1 with has low functioning Autism and requires a Teaching Assistant who is patient yet sets clear boundaries. As the child’s one to one Teaching Assistant you must have experience using PECS and Makaton (basic signing) as the child uses this to communicate.

To be considered you must have experience working as a Teaching Assistant using PECS and Makaton within a Special Needs School, a Teaching Assistant using PECS and Makaton in a Pupil Referral Unit or have experience working as a Teaching Assistant using PECS and Makaton with SEN Children in a mainstream Primary School.
