TEACHING ASSISTANT TO SUPPORT A STUDENT WITH MEDICAL NEEDS

Prospero Teaching are supporting a 'Good' Ofsted rated School in Blandford looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a Year 7 pupil with complex medical needs.

The post will involve:
*Supporting a student currently in Year 7 who has complex medical needs including a tracheostomy and needs a high level of medical support, including feeding via a tube, nebulising, suction and administering oxygen as required, together with other medical procedures.
*Providing a high level of medical support - appropriate training will be provided as required in relation to the student's specific needs
*General in class support
* Liaising with the SENCO

Applicants should be able to:
*Provide the appropriate level of in-class and medical support for the student (upon completion of any training required)
*Relate well to adolescents
*Have excellent literacy and numeracy skills
*Have good interpersonal and communication skills
*Be calm and flexible
*Have good behaviour management skills
*Be able to follow plans, and show initiative to adapt where needed
*Be dedicated to ensuring students needs are met
*Be sympathetic to those with special educational needs
*Be able to work alongside and support other professionals within the department/school

The successful applicant will join the lively and supportive SEND team and will be given opportunities for personal and professional development, and will be expected to work under the direction of the class teacher 1:1, but also with small groups and occasionally larger groups.
