Teaching Assistant in Pupil Referral Unit

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced teaching assistant in a secondary Pupil Referral Unit in Kings Heath, Birmingham.

Job Description

  • The successful teaching assistant will create exciting, high quality learning experiences for small groups of children under the direction of the classroom teacher.

  • Demonstrating a sound knowledge of the National Curriculum.

  • They will also show a positive, enthusiastic, but firm approach to classroom management.


  • The successful applicant must have a minimum of NVQ level 3 or the equivalent in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools or Child Care and Education.

  • Experience of working with pupils with emotional and behavioural issues.

  • Really care about children but particularly those who find learning and managing their behaviour difficult.

  • This role requires an enhanced DBS and Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable)
