Severn View Primary Academy is looking to appoint an experienced, qualified Teaching Assistant to support a child in Yr 3 who has an Education Health Care Plan (social, emotional, mental health and learning difficulties).

This contract will be 18.75 hours a week, from 9.30am - 1.15pm. The position combines 5 days (09.30-12.45pm) as Teaching Assistant as Grade F with 30 minutes per day Midday Supervision at Grade C. The contract is attached to the child, if the child's needs change or they leave the school, the contract will change/end with sufficient notice.

You will need to be caring, enthusiastic and flexible with the ability to work under the direction of the Class Teacher and Head of Inclusion and also use your own initiative.  The successful candidate will support the child, enabling them to successfully access the curriculum. Working as part of a small team requires a teaching assistant who is adaptable and able to work collaboratively with members of the school and wider community.

We are looking for a teaching assistant who has the following attributes:

  • Empathy and understanding of children's individual learning abilities.
  • Using their initiative to enhance a child's experience and learning at school.
  • Be able to conduct and support learning in 1:1 and small group learning situations
  • Show empathy & kindness
  • Build honest and positive relations with children, parents and staff
