Southend on Sea

I am delighted to be working with an Ofsted graded GOOD Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) located in Southend.

This fantastic PRU is seeking an experienced Maths Teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS.) The school has around 50 referred pupils aged 14-19 who, by reason of illness, disability, social, emotional or mental health issues, require alternative educational arrangements to ensure they receive an education which meets their needs.

This is a long term role or permanent role and NQTs will be considered if they have extensive experience with challenging behaviour and complex needs.

The School works with the most disaffected, challenging pupils in the South East. Pupils have often been excluded from numerous schools and have been out of full-time education for some time.

The school offers positive outcomes to young people of school age who have disengaged, or are at the point of disengaging with education. Many of these pupils are known to the criminal justice system and a significant percentage of the pupils are looked after or children in need. Most have been excluded from at least one school.
Despite these challenges, the school supports their pupils in achieving a wide range of accredited outcomes in examinations and other courses.

If you have experience and a passion for teaching Maths to young people with complex needs, please do get in touch:
