Tax Administrator

Our client, a chartered accountancy and business development firm, based in central Cambridge is looking for a Tax Department Administrator to join their tax department. The core of the role is to provide administrative and secretarial support for the four teams within the tax department. You will also provide efficient cover for other support team members during times of absence and undertake some facilities management as needed. This is a busy and varied role requiring a flexible approach and excellent deadline management.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the four tax teams to ensure a first class service to clients
  • Preparation of general correspondence, reports, new client documentation and engagement letters as directed
  • Assisting in the identification of new clients in line with our client’s anti money-laundering process
  • Generating invoices and circulating bill reports from time management system
  • Assisting the teams with compliance matters, in particular, preparing quarterly VAT returns and EU sales lists
  • E-filing a variety of forms online, including self-assessment
  • Liaising with HMRC as directed
  • Responsibility for the banking activity of our client’s Trust’s accounts
  • Responsibility for the set up and maintenance of client accounts, including assisting clients with technical issues
  • Undertaking the annual safe audit
  • Efficient document management, including scanning, binding and photocopying
  • Daily management of incoming and outgoing post
  • Diary management, organising team events, network events, internal IT training, client meetings and taking minutes as directed
  • Reception/Switchboard cover as required
  • Maintaining stock levels of office essentials
  • Making refreshments for client meetings
  • Maintaining the tax library, ordering/booking seminars and webinars and books

This is a busy and varied role working across four teams within the department. The ideal candidate is an energetic individual with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word/PowerPoint/Excel) and a good eye for detail. You will require excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a varied workload to ensure a smooth service for clients and teams across the department.
