We are currently working with an impressive Technology company based in Cambridge who have a requirement for a Systems Engineer to join their busy and expanding team. This role will require a self-starter who has the ability, after some training, to oversee multiple Hi-tech projects, collaborating with customers, partner companies and a team of leading in-house experts.

The company are a leading developer of Industrial Inkjet Software, Drive Electronics, Components and Systems. Their products drive thousands of Printheads and Scanning Systems all over the world. Although this role is based primarily at the company Headquarters in Cambridge, you will also be required to travel globally with the position as required. Often this can be as many as 2 times a month and can also sometimes be with very short notice.

The purpose of this role is to initially work alongside the Systems Engineer (for the first 6-12 Months) and familiarise yourself with all elements of the role. After this time, you will be responsible for a leading product line of ink delivery systems. As such, this role presents an excellent opportunity for candidates with a strong technical background within a Customer facing role.

Often this role will require assisting customers who are Primarily Industrial Inkjet Printer Manufacturers who are at the prototype phase in developing a new printer. As such a deep understanding of Industrial Printers would be highly advantageous however not essential. Duties will include

The design of customised ink delivery systems for customer
Playing an important part in long-term R&D projects where a more hands-on approach may be required
Some basic coding
Gathering data and analysing results
Test set-ups
Taking the time to gain a deep understanding of customers projects so lengthy phone calls and global travel to customer sites will be required
The confidence to take a hands-on approach whilst on site working on machines and working to solve issues with the customer
In order to be considered for this role, we require an experienced Engineer from an R&D environment within Technical Manufacturing, or candidates who have worked on in-depth projects as part of a PhD with has confident communication skills. Other skills and attributes required:

A Degree qualification within a relevant Engineering Subject would also be desirable such as Mechanical Engineering, Physics or a closely related discipline
R&D experience
Gathering complex data and analysing
Experience within Mechanical and Electronic engineering
The ability to grasp complex technical issues with a high level of resolve is required along with a Basic knowledge of Fluid Dynamics and some level of understanding of Software packages and how they complement the R&D stages of manufacturing.
A hands-on approach to problem solving and experience of Mechanical Design with either Solidwork or similar package
Confident and passionate about working within a technical environment
In terms of the right person for the role; this position will suit an organised, effective Technology Professional who is seeking a role within a collaborative environment. Excellent people and effective communication skills are required along with a passion for attention to detail. Strong problem solving skills and the ability to remain calm and think clearly under pressure. Ideally some practical electronics and programming skills would also be really helpful. Due to the nature of the role, the ability to speak another language could also prove to be really helpful.
