An award winning global provider of precision laboratory equipment serving a variety of industries, due to growth, are now looking for a Systems Engineer to bolster their research and development team based from their operation in East Sussex.
Reporting into the Engineering Manager, the successful individual will be responsible for aiding development projects; contributing to design and test specifications; working with optical, software and mechanical engineers to bring new ideas and projects together; building and testing prototypes; act as a point of escalation to the technical support team on technical issues and on occasions performing customer training and installing equipment in the field.
Individuals must be qualified in Life Sciences, Physics or Mechanical, Electrical, Optical or Systems Engineering and can demonstrate experience of working within any of the following:
- Experience within a laboratory environment within academia and building microscopes
- Working within a test and installation capacity, working with lasers, life science microscopy, optical development or motion engineering
- A background in neuroscience research within academia and have experience of imaging / electrophysiology
- Experience of working within an applications support / applications engineering capacity with a good all round knowledge of mechanical, electrical, software and optics.
Individuals with experience of programming in LabVIEW, Python or experience of MatLab or similar tools would be a massive benefit to our client, though not essential.
Individuals will need to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills possess excellent problem solving skills as well as work flexibly and be open to change.
A full, clean UK or EU driving licence is also required for this role and candidates must be able and willing to travel on business on occasions throughout the UK and overseas.
The position is offering a salary in the region of £30,000 - £35,000 together with 23 days holiday + bank holidays, contributory pension scheme, eye care and childcare vouchers, free parking, free fruit for all staff and a 36 hour working week.
