Job Purpose: Systems Engineering and development on the Company's Naval Systems products and the resources specifically allocated to projects for which appointed Design Project Leader.
Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent with 5 years' experience.
1 Maintain the appropriate professional standards on projects and provide guidance and professional consultancy to other Engineers and employees on all matters relating to systems design to the relevant standards.
2 Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant technology and practice with a particular emphasis on Systems Engineering including commercial and ruggedised equipment.
3 Familiarity with requirements management tools, particularly IBM Rational DOORS
4 To act as Design Project Leader on projects allocated by the Engineering Manager.
5 Undertake concept design and sufficient detail design, and offer guidance thereon as is necessary to support technical staff allocated to specific projects.
6 To be responsible for all elements of the design verification, including verification plans, managing internal and external resources, design analysis and compiling reports.
7 Provide or obtain estimated prime cost information to enable new tasks / projects to be priced and quoted.
8 Ensure that the company's Naval Systems design and development requirements are met in terms of performance, programme and cost.
9 Provide technical support to other departments on the systems aspects of new business and provide the appropriate documentation when requested.
10 Develop and control system technical specifications, programmes, and cost plans for product developments.
11 Management of the activities undertaken, reporting on the technical aspects and resource utilisation achieved.
12 Provide recommendations on design procedures to the Engineering Manager.
13 To report to management any comments or suggestions which may improve efficiency, safety and costs.
14 Identify, justify and implement process improvements to ensure design procedures are cost effective and aligned to business / product requirements.
15 To carry out any other duties that may be delegated by senior management that are commensurate with the conduct of the company's business.
9 day fortnight (every other Friday off) and flexible working hours as long as core hours are covered.
