Systems Administrator

aspire cambridge are currently recruiting for a Systems Manager to join a surgery aiding medical software company based in Barrington, Cambridge. The systems administrator role is a key member of the operations team who will be responsible for the maintenance of operational processes for the day-to-day running of the production system, as well as first & second line technical support for customers using our clients software.

Main duties:

  • Development, deployment & maintenance of servers & services for internal and remote use in the cloud
  • Resolution of technical questions and enquiries from customers, partners, and internal staff in person or via email, phone or WebEx
  • Help with design and implementation of system architectures that will scale smoothly as the customer base expands
  • Interaction with the development team to help guide new product features and bug fixes
  • Administration and monitoring of all network & security services, including hardware and software infrastructure
  • Key source of knowledge of internal infrastructure within the operations team
  • Maintenance of operational processes for production systems, e.g. logging, disaster recovery, data migrations, security
  • Responsibility for ensuring back-ups are taken and verified
  • Monitoring of the ops dashboard which is highly visible within the office space
  • Maintain reporting scripts that feed information to the QMS
  • Participate in the design and development of documentation and support resources, such as self-help and ticketing systems
  • Participation in on-call rota for out-of-hours cover
  • Maintain strict adherence to internal policies within the organisation

Skills and experience:

  • Essential Requirements:
  • Strong interest in the future of digital technology in healthcare
  • Remote desktop support experience
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to interact confidently and communicate technical instructions with customers and colleagues at all levels
  • Experience in development with well-established/modern languages and frameworks (Python/Django, JavaScript/TypeScript/React)
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Strong understanding of AWS Cloud Services (EC2, RDS, Route53, S3 and VPC)

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience in a healthcare environment
  • Good understanding of GitHub
  • Experience working with Windows & Linux operating systems
  • Experience with other cloud providers

Start: ASAP

Duration: Permanent

Hours: Full Time

Location: Barrington, Cambridge

Salary: £33,000 - £37,000
