SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (SQL & PHP)

Birmingham (Hybrid)

Up to £70,000 + benefits

THE COMPANY:

I'm partnering with an independent investment management firm going through an exciting period of technical transformation. They're moving away from expensive, legacy third-party systems and are instead building out a modern, in-house platform that will give them far more control, speed, and scalability as the business grows.

THE ROLE

As the System Development Manager, you'll be the driving force behind unifying two teams. Your mission is to bring consistency, structure, and collaboration into their development environment while supporting a major in-house system build.

You will:

  • Oversee day-to-day workflow, priorities, and blockers across SQL and PHP teams
  • Introduce more mature processes around delivery, testing, and documentation
  • Lead appraisals, coaching, and performance management
  • Shape technical strategy
  • Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and maintainable

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
  • Solid grounding in SQL and PHP
  • Strong understanding of software development principles, architecture, and DevOps-aligned practices
  • Ability to introduce process maturity in growing teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

THE BENEFITS:

You will receive a salary, dependent on experience. Salary is up to £70,000 On top of the salary there are some fantastic extra benefits.
