Reporting to the Head of Exchequer and Pensions, the System & Control Manager's main purpose is to provide assurance that the Council's key business and finance systems, processes and banking activities are controlled, maintained and developed to ensure that the Council has robust information to manage its day to day activities.

The role will play a significant part in the development and implementation of key finance systems across the council and ensure that appropriate system controls, reconciliations, interdependencies and compliance to agreed processes are considered and documented as part of development and implementation. The role has specific responsibility for Master Data held within the finance system, the Council's day to day banking activities and meeting the Council's PCI-DSS compliance requirements.

The System & Control manager has full line management for 27 staff across four teams, in addition to this the post may at time be responsible for managing multi-disciplinary project teams.

The Resources service provides a flexible customer-orientated support service, which makes the best use of our financial resources, supporting our people and leading organisational change. We maintain a corporate budget aligned to the Council Strategy that ensures effective financial control over our Council activities, investments and financial responsibilities.

About you:

You will be a qualified accountant with experience of working at a senior level within a finance or financial system environment. You will need to have effective leadership and interpersonal skills to bring together and manage cross functional teams to achieve successful results. An excellent understanding and experience of how information management systems are used to secure organisational interests and drive organisational performance is also required.
