You may be used to looking after an elderly friend or relative. Perhaps you love putting on events or organising group activities. You might even simply enjoy meeting up with other people for a good old chat. Wherever your talents lie, if you're looking for a role where you can make the most of your social, caring and life skills, The Fremantle Trust has some good news for you.
Established since 1992, we’re an award winning charity and not-for-profit organisation that provides first class care and support for older people and adults with learning disabilities. Today, we have 1,800 staff supporting over 2,000 residents at 58 services across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Milton Keynes and North London. And, right now we’re looking for Supported Living Workers to join our team in High Wycombe, a supported living service that provides care across 5 locations.
We encourage people to achieve maximum independence and choice in their lives, being able to participate in activities according to their abilities. We also offer independent living training that’s tailored to each of our high needs clients. And, we want you to make sure that everyone receives the very best care and support according to their assessed needs. As well as involving them in the development of individual support plans, you’ll also assist with their personal care needs. Preparing their meals; involving them in day centre activities and ensuring they take their medication are all aspects of the role, as is keeping accurate records and documentation.
While a care qualification like QCF Level 2 or equivalent would be useful, it's not as important as your innovative approach and creative ideas for activities. Someone who approaches the role with genuine enthusiasm and excitement, your engaging personality will be all the motivation residents need to get involved. Empathy, not sympathy, is what they need, and being a compassionate and caring individual, you’ll give it to them in spades.
If that sounds like the kind of good news you're looking for, why not get in touch?
