We have some very exciting news! We have just expanded and have a new service in Blaydon, meaning we are now looking for people to join our team of dedicated, well trained and amazing support workers.
Our new service will be supporting 3 gentlemen who have a learning disability and require support with this.
It is also a really beautiful service, the bungalow is spacious and perfect for these 3 gentlemen who often require a wheelchair to get around. It also has a gigantic garden with forest like areas and we're in the process of creating a large and interactive sensory room.
You will be responsible for the day to day livelihood of these individuals and will help with personal care, medication administration, household duties and also helping the gentlemen have fun. All of the people we will be supporting are very friendly and enjoy doing a vast range of activities. These include: going out on the Metro or in their cars, going to the beach, going to day centres, dancing, watching TV, musicals, listening to music and swimming. It is also very important to them that they are able to keep in regular contact with their family and friends.
Supporting someone with their daily life is not a 9-5 job. You will need to be able to work across a range of different days and shift patterns, including some sleep in shifts (Payment for sleep ins is competitive and compliant with National Living Wage requirements). We realise that your quality time is important too, so your rota is prepared well in advance - Got a request, something special going on? Your manager will certainly try to help you meet it.
One of the most amazing things about being a Support Worker is that anyone can do it! As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we will support you with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.
An enhanced DBS will be required for each successful candidate (Paid for by Mencap, T&Cs apply)
