We are looking for warm, flexible, caring and proactive individuals to provide person-centred care and support as part of our friendly team supporting people with a learning disability in Oakley, Bedford. Our service users enjoy going out to garden centres, shopping, watching films, bowling, discos, playing video games and being pampered! We are looking for support workers who are active, engaged and will empower these people to improve their independence and quality of life. If you would like a rewarding role that includes working with people who have learning and physical disabilities to achieve their life goals and join the local community (subject to COVID-restrictions), then we would love to hear from you.

Support Worker Duties Include:

  • Supporting service users to retain their independence by teaching life skills, such as shopping, using public transport and cooking,
  • Engaging in activities with the service users and encouraging them to take up hobbies and achieve their personal goals,
  • Providing emotional support for an individual and their families,

  • Assisting with the day-to-day running of the service, including administering medication, paperwork, emails and other office duties.

Although we value relevant experience of supporting people with a learning disability or autism, you do not need to have prior experience if you can demonstrate a ‘can-do approach’, person-centred values, energy and commitment. Full training is provided. The service has a supportive work culture and you will join a team who recognise and appreciate each other’s’ strengths. You will need good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop good quality support plans.
