Support Worker

Posted 25 November by Achieve together

Fancy a job where you can be a superhero without having to wear a cape?

Ever thought of becoming a Support Worker?

We are seeking Support Workers to join our team at Allt y Cham, a specialist Supported Living learning disability service in Pontardawe, situated 9ml from Swansea, 7ml from Neath and a few minutes from the main routes of the M4 & A465.

This charming 18th Century farmhouse is beautifully well presented and has been restored into 3 self contained buildings: The Farm House, The Coach House and The Stables, providing a much loved home to eleven adults with learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviours and complex health needs.

What is this role?

We currently have full-time vacancies for 12hr shift patterns.

As the People we Support have complex needs, experience with personal behaviour plans would be advantageous.

We are looking for dynamic support workers, with the ability to adapt and change your demeanour, approach and communication styles - at a moments notice. You are flexible and able to go with the flow, with the ability to prioritise tasks quickly.

If you enjoy likeminded interests such as catching the latest movie at the cinema, bowling, visiting the local pub for a game of pool or enjoying long walks in the local countryside: this is definitely an ideal place to work.

What's in it for me?

You will receive a huge amount of job satisfaction!!

In depth induction and ongoing training.

Working hrs that support a work / life balance.

Be part of a friendly, dedicated staff team.

You don’t need to have experience in Health and Social Care, but you do need to be passionate about what you do and show compassion and kindness towards the People we Support.

Being a Support Worker is not just about personal care.  In fact, it’s only a small part of it. For example, T needs support making her cup of tea in the morning, while B has a new found love of gardening so will need support in bringing his ideas to life in the garden. How about supporting F to organise her holiday or empowering C to join the social evening in the local pub?

Does this sound like something you could do?

Your duties will include:

  • Supporting individuals to plan and engage in activities in line with their individualised activity planner, which could include holidays, social events, religious and sporting activities, education and employment.
  • Maintain the general health, wellbeing and emotional needs of the People we Support.
  • Encouraging individuals to access a range of opportunities and experiences.
  • Supporting individuals to keep in contact with family and friends, and to participate in social and community activities.

And, of course, you need to ensure that the dignity and choice of the People we Support is preserved at all times.

We are not an agency - you will be working for Achieve togetheras part of our amazing team, and will benefit from our in-house learning and development opportunites right throughout your career.

If this sounds like you - apply now!
