Riverside are looking to recruit a full time Project Assistant at The Jamaica Street Project in Bristol working 37.5 hours per week
The Jamacia Street Project offers emergency accommodation and support for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Kingsdown, Bristol. Our high level support aims to increase confidence in managing mental health or drug or alcohol dependency issues, improve life skills and help you move into more appropriate accommodation.We also offer emergency beds (crashpads) to people sleeping rough in the city via street outreach teams/council referrals.
As a Project Assistant you will play a vital role in providing administration support to our teams, as well as supporting our customers to make their own life choices and to access the services they need.
You will provide a first class administration service, maintaining accurate records and acting as a first point of contact for customers by telephone or in person. You will engage with them to offer housing related support, responding to and escalating queries as necessary, including working with tenancy agreements and collecting rents and charges.
You will be responsible for cleaning and preparing void rooms ready for new customers. The role can be challenging at times, and you may be required to deal with challenging personalities and chaotic situations; calling the emergency services for example.
WHAT DO YOU NEED
Ideally, you’ll already have experience of working with vulnerable clients in a housing/social care setting. If not, you will be given on the job training but will certainly have the initiative, empathy, interpersonal skills, resilience and sensitivity to appreciate how everyday housing issues impact on quality of life.
Commitment to providing the quality service that our clients need is also essential. You will have excellent communication, IT and customer service skills and the organisational skills required to deal with a range of administrative issues.
