Support Worker

Providing therapeutic placements for children aged 8-18 years. All staff are trained in therapeutic approaches, to support and enable young people to develop through child hood into adult life, by the onsite Psychotherapist. Young people's holistic care needs are met within placement (social, emotional and educational). This is achieved with holistic educational packages and individually tailored therapy plans from the CBT therapist who will provide individual sessions and supervision to the staff team to enable them to support the needs of the children. The committed care team ensure the young people are treated as individuals, providing them with a large range of activities enabling then to socialise within the community

Supporting new admission of new Residents to the home.
Supporting with reviews and care plans.
Assisting in the provision of an attractive, flexible, responsive and stimulating environment within the home which is relevant to the needs of individuals, and the client group, and which promotes and protects the care of children and young people.
Encourging and supporting independence within the home environment.
Supporting children by showing an awareness of their individual interests and preferences, providing simulating age appropriate play/leisure activities and introducing them to a range of different experiences..
Monitoring residents for signs of abuse, bullying etc and handles all situations arising in accordance with the home’s established child protection polices and procedures.
Helping Housekeeping staff in the clearing of vacated rooms; assists with bedmaking etc
Supporting the Kitchen staff with the preparation of food as directed.
Assisting in the preparation and delivery of individual and group-related leisure and educational activities within the home and outside.
Providing transport for residents as needed for visiting friends, pursuing outdoor interests etc.
 Preparing meals for residents.
Maintaining the kitchen/dining/communal areas in a clean and tidy condition.
Household chores
Participating in group leisure activities within and outside the home.

At least 1 year’s experience of working with Children/Young people in a similar setting, and with other Care Professionals and partner agencies.
Interested in the care and welfare of others. Able to handle difficult situations with empathy and consideration. Retains confidential information. Able to develop close but professional relationships. A good listener.
Carrying out duties at all times in a courteous, caring and sympathetic manner
Carrying out duties at all times in a manner which has appropriate regard to the health, safety and welfare of both themselves and others and reports to the Home Manager (or other Competent Person) any equipment that is, or is thought to be, not in good working order. 
Communicating information about the condition and welfare of Residents to parents, relatives and other.
