About the role:

Interserve Healthcare is a leading care provider who puts care at the heart of everything we do. We support a range of clients varying in age and care requirements which can include mental health, learning disabilities, physical disabilities and clients with more complex clinical needs.

As a Support Worker in this role duties will vary dependent on each clients individual care plan. These may include personal care, assistance with moving and handling, support with community outings and medication administration.

Interserve Healthcare are looking for a support worker to work with a gentleman in Coggeshall.

This gentleman has spastic paraplegia and a digestive condition which affects his whole body after he has taken on food and fluid. This can have an effect on his entire body i.e. stomach, bowels, speech, sight, brain, mobility and make him feel very warm and/or fatigued. He also has Autonomic Dysreflexia. Due to his condition, he is very sensitive to sound and smell.

He is able to transfer and mobilise using his wheelchair and to fully communicate his needs. He likes film and music.

You will need to be able to assist him with his physiotherapy, which involves kneeling on the floor and helping him to undertake gentle passive stretches.

The ideal person to suit this client would have good communication skills, be perceptive and proactive. Someone who enjoys cooking, has good housekeeping skills and a high standard of hygiene will suit this client very well. A calm nature would also be well suited to this client.

Experience of working with or an awareness of neurological conditions would be beneficial.

Rates of pay range from £8.80 -12.29 per hour. Shifts are 08.00-15.30 and 15.30-22.30.

Following skills & experience required:

  • 6 months previous care experience - Essential
  • Experience of working with clients with complex care needs - Desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and listening - Essential
  • Have a caring and compassionate attitude - Essential
  • Can commit to regular hours - Desirable
