"Help us to express ourselves; build meaningful relationships; and to feel safe within the community".
We are currently seeking support workers to join our team in Woodbridge.
You will be supporting four individuals within one of our supported living services. They have all known each other for many years and have built close friendships. Some of the things they enjoy doing are going on day trips to the zoo; accessing day services; and activities such as sailing.
Each individual has varying needs so you will need to be flexible in order to support them. Our best support workers demonstrate the ability to build true and meaningful relationships; whilst being able to adapt their delivery as necessary to the individual. Two of the individuals are non-verbal; so you will need to be creative and patient to enable them to express how they are feeling; one of the individuals communicates with Makaton.
Your main responsibilities will be to make the day to day decisions easier for the people we support. This could include:
- Maintaining personal hygiene and care needs
- Finances such as a budgeting, utility bills and saving for that special thing someone would like to do
- Helping the person understand any written communications and helping them action them
- Promoting healthy eating and help with planning, preparing and cooking meals
- Attending health appointments and social activities
We would love someone who is friendly; sociable; and who likes to get involved. If you value inclusion; can promote positivity and take the time to show the individuals' you will be supporting how to accomplish the things that they want to accomplish; then this is the role for you!
Flexibility is a must as you will need to be available to work across various shifts to include; days, evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.
