Support Worker Various Part Time Hours - Salisbury

Posted 5 April by Mencap Ended

Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to lives of people with Learning Disability?

We are looking to expand our team of dedicated support workers in Salisbury who are currently supporting 17 ladies and gentlemen in their own homes. Ages range from the 30's to the late 60's in the Salisbury services, offering a real variety in both personalities and experiences of the people we support.

We have various contracts available and welcome applicants that are looking for full-time or part-time opportunities. Shifts are rota based and will be spread across morning, afternoons, evening and include sleep ins (Payment for sleep ins is competitive and compliant with National Living Wage requirements). Flexibility is important as all our shifts will be spread across a 7-day week rota.

The people we support in Salisbury see many things as being important to them, be it through supporting them in adult life with things like finance and supporting them while preparing meals, or with more general support such as going to new places and talking to people within the community. Aside from day to day support, you will also need to support these individuals with their hobbies; be it through gardening with DC, looking after birds with GR or going for a coffee and a chat with BG - who doesn't enjoy a coffee and a catch up?

The people we support have said that you will need to be respectful, patient and proactive in supporting them - in particular with regards to new skills; they would like you to explain things rather than simply doing it for them. This patience will allow you to make a real difference to their lives. They would also like you to prompt them rather than tell them when supporting them - as nobody likes being told what to do.

As a support worker, all you'll need to have is a positive attitude and a desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability. If you support the people within our service, we will support you with award winning training and progression opportunities throughout your career with us.

Enhanced DBS is required for each successful candidate.
